Positive Thursday

Hello friends, followers and new comers too

Today is not my typical Thursday, I would normally be at work at this time of day. I woke not feeling my normal “get-up-and-go” kind of energy. I considered just pushing through “whatever” it was that was afflicting me; but decided some self-care was the answer. It is important, no it is vital that we care for ourselves as much as we care for others.

So, I was finally able to get out of bed and made it to my living room and as I sat and took in my surrounds…the idea for this post hit me. The Holy Spirit spoke to me, reminding me of caring for ourselves is so important. The picture below is my current view, it is where I sit to do most of my blog posts.

“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.” So Mordecai went away and carried out all of Esther’s instructions.” ~Esther 4:14

“One of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.” ~Luke 22:50-51

Bible Reading • Luke 22:47-53

Jesus Arrested

“While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?” And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him. Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs? 53 Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour—when darkness reigns.”

Challenge 🤔 Questions

As you reflect on Jesus’ love for His enemies, who is “the enemy” in your life?

  • This is a very personal question, I have lamented on it for some time; for some this may be an easy question to answer while others it could be rather difficult. My personal hope is that I do not have enemies; however, none of us can truly know our enemies unless they come right out and tell us. I have absolutely no power or control of another’s feelings towards me. I believe this strikes at the core of the question, I can only control my feelings and my actions. Jesus taught us to love everyone, Jesus was able to know the truth of others and that truth did not alter His love. He loved Judas in while knowing he would betray him. Jesus loved His disciples while knowing some would doubt and deny him; Jesus broke bread with them, washed their feet and prayed for them. Jesus is teaching us and telling us that love is at the very center of all things.

What would it look like for you to love and do good to them this week?

  • One of the most important things I can do is pray. Pray for my personal accountability of my thought and actions. Pray for transparency and honesty with others. I can pray for my friends, family, coworkers, leaders of my county, state and country. I can pray for world leaders. I can simply talk with God, through words, thoughts, song and silence…listening intently to the Holy Spirit. Listening is as important as (speaking) praying, that my friends is the completeness of what communication is meant to be. Much like the ebb and flow of the ocean/lake in perfect harmony.

Go and do it.
