Stand Ready

Thursday, January 27th, 2022

Hello friends —

Today I simply want to share some verses I read as part of my daily devotions. It’s the words of the Apostle Paul to the church in Ephesus. Paul encourages the people to constantly be prepared, to STAND READY. As I read these words, I paused and thought just how these words rang true for the people in Ephesus and remains solid truth for today. I look at my own life and question my commitments.

⚠️ Am I standing ready for the call of Jesus.

⚠️ Have I done all that I can to prepare for the call of Jesus

I think most of us would agree that life is challenging, no matter our social or economic standing life is not and will never be fair. I’ve learned over the years that money does not buy happiness or love. I’ve also recognized that the outward appearance of popularity and being well liked does not fill one’s heart with worth or love.

I am reminded of a wonderful Bible verse that plainly tells God’s children what they can do to STAND READY…

“For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
— Ephesians 6:12-17 (NRSVA)

Peace to each of you today and always~
