—C.S. Lewis, That Hideous Strength (The Space Trilogy, #3) *Photo Sunset at Indianapolis International Airport

In my post today I am going to share a quote and a poem. I am not going to share my personal commentary regarding them. My wish is for you, the reader to seek to find your own insights. Just as with the current climate within the United States, we each must uncover our own truths. God created each of us with the ability to understand truth and a conscience to know what is right and what is wrong. I encourage everyone to take a long look at themselves in a mirror, do you like what you see (?). The Bible tells each of us how we should act, talk and treat one another. It really is as easy as following two rules/commandments…

“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” -Matthew 22:36-40

“Life is made up of a collection of moments that are not ours to keep. The pain we encounter throughout our days spent on this earth comes from the illusion that some moments can be held onto. Clinging to people and experiences that were never ours in the first place is what causes us to miss out on the beauty of the miracle that is the now. All of this is yours, yet none of it is. How could it be? Look around you. Everything is fleeting.

To love and let go, love and let go, love and let go…it’s the single most important thing we can learn in this lifetime.”

—Rachel Brathen (Yoga Girl; Love and Let Go, A Memoir of Love, Loss and Gratitude)

“There’s not a joy” by Lord George Gordon Byron

George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron (1788 – 1824)

*Also known as “Youth and Age”

There’s not a joy the world can give like that it takes away

When the glow of early thought declines in feeling’s dull decay;

‘Tis not on youth’s smooth cheek the blush alone, which fades so fast,

But the tender bloom of heart is gone, ere youth itself be past.

Then the few whose spirits float above the wreck of happiness

Are driven o’er the shoals of guilt, or ocean of excess:

The magnet of their course is gone, or only points in vain

The shore to which their shiver’d sail shall never stretch again.

Then the mortal coldness of the soul like death itself comes down;

It cannot feel for others’ woes, it dare not dream its own;

That heavy chill has frozen o’er the fountain of our tears,

And though the eye may sparkle still, ’tis where the ice appears.

Though wit may flash from fluent lips, and mirth distract the breast,

Through midnight hours that yield no more their former hope of rest,

‘Tis but as ivy-leaves around the ruin’d turret wreathe,

All green and wildly fresh without, but worn and gray beneath.

Oh could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been,

Or weep as I could once have wept o’er many a vanish’d scene;

As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be,

So midst the wither’d waste of life those tears would flow to me!

“Fare thee well, and if for ever
Still for ever fare thee well.”

—Lord George Gordon Byron—

“May the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

—1 Thessalonians 5:23—

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with all of you.”

—2 Thessalonians 3:16—

Dear Weary Soul

Wednesday, August 26, 2020

Today’s verse…I read this as I was still in bed at 2pm. I am weary. I am weary of the world I see crumbing before my eyes. I’m weary of the lies being told to gain votes. I am weary of the constant fears being populated by media outlets for viewership. I am weary that the country I love is dying. I am weary that God is mocked and slandered. I am weary and tired, so very tired.

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

—Matthew 11:28—

I am thankful my mother and grandparents are in their eternal home and in the arms of Jesus. I am thankful that Jesus loves me and His Grace is free and His Love unconditional. I am thankful I was raised by loving parents who did not spare the rod and taught me Christian values. I am thankful for my Christian education both high school and college.

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

—Colossians 3:17—

I am blessed to serve the risen Savior. I am blessed for new mercies each day. I am blessed to be “schooled” by the Master. I am blessed to have known sorrow and the depths of inconsolable grief. I am blessed to know the difference between winning and learning. I am blessed to continue to know that loss is not the same as losing.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

—Matthew 5:4—

I know I was created by the Father of All things. I know I was created on purpose. I know I was created with a plan. I know I was created not merely made. I know I am loved because I know I belong to the Almighty God, Yahweh, Jehovah, the Alpha and the Omega.

“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.”

—Jeremiah 29:11—

I know God is Real, He walks with me. He talks with me. He inspires me. He listens to me. He comforts me. He sustains me. He forgives me. He chases me. He never leaves me.

“Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

—Joshua 1:9b—-

A Bit of Wisdom by C.S.Lewis

Friday, August 21, 2020

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!

Below is a poem I wrote a few years ago, God is always Good!

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.” ~Selah
—Psalm 46:1-3—

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.”
—Proverbs 18:10—

“…and do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
—Nehemiah 8:10b—-

Heart and Soul

Cold and scared, where will I find refuge

Bleeding within myself, beaten, battered and bruised

Will I see the Light, will I ever feel again

My chest aches from the burdens I’ve placed upon myself, as if I’m carrying the world

My tears offer no release, I’m chained twisted and torn

I want to scream but who will hear my cries

God are you there, I need to know-am I worthy

I’ve never been this lost before, where is home

I feel so full of emptiness, why does my heart ache

My heart is a battlefield covered in darkness,

Will my sorrows continue, what more will come

I am an infant crying that cannot be comforted, nothing to soothe my cries

I am the tree on a lonely plain, no shelter-no leaves

I’m the single blade of grass, stubborn and growing on a concrete yard

How did I get here , who am I, why does it matter

When did I know, what purpose do I have

Talk to me, I am searching, is that my purpose

Crawling and scratching, where am I going

Is it possible to be true to you and to me, simultaneously

God, please show me the way home…

A Bit of Wisdom by C.S.Lewis

“There are a dozen views about everything until you know the answer. Then there is never more than one.”

—C.S. Lewis, That Hideous Strength (The Space Trilogy, #3)

Friends—

Life can be very confusing and overwhelming at times. It has seemed to be extra crazy, at least to me these past several months. Life as I knew it ceased to be since COVID-19. I find myself more uneasy with regard to my daily life and the activities I enjoy. I am easily frustrated by the behaviors of others when I suppose, I should be concerned with my own. I try to follow the rules and do my part for my own health and safety as well as others around me. I don’t know what the future holds, the truth is God is the only one who does. As I was thinking of this post and examining my feeling and emotions, all of a sudden the answer was clear. God. God is always the answer! He holds the entire universe in His hand. But more than that, He holds me! He holds YOU as well. Why is it that when things are tough, difficult and seemingly out of control…we think we can fix it(?). God never intended for any of us to do life alone. No matter the question, God is the answer. Take time to talk with God today, He is always available.

https://godshotspot.wordpress.com/2014/10/25/horoscopes/

God tells us, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” —Genesis 1:1

The Apostle John writes, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” —John 1:1-5

Jesus tells us, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
—Revelation 22:13
